My name is Simon and I am a freelance director based in Brighton.
I love working with actors and I understand how difficult it is to stand out in a saturated market - a strong showreel can be all the difference.
I'm a filmmaker first and foremost and will approach your reel like each scene is a standalone mini-film. I believe it is critical that each scene looks different, and feels different. When people watch your reel they will believe you were in 3 different projects, not that you employed someone to make a showreel for them.
With bespoke scripts tailored to the direction you want your career to go in, and a commitment to helping you give your best performance on the day, I can make you a showreel that will help you stand out.
How it works
By definition 'Bespoke' means that one size won't fit all, but generally this is how I like to work...
Pre-Production
First off - let's have a chat. I want to understand what your goals are and how we can best achieve them on screen. If you don't have any footage yet then this is an opportunity to really shape your trajectory. If you have existing material already then I want to see it, to understand you and work out what would compliment what you already have.
Scripts - you can choose your own from existing works, or you are welcome to write something yourself. I will of course help along the way. Alternatively we can arrange for one of several trusted screenwriters I know to create bespoke material for you.
Cast - I can provide many talented actors. You may prefer to work with actors you know already and this is fine. You may even want to split the cost with them!
Costumes & Locations - as is always the way in film - costs here can escalate quickly. The simplest and most effective approach is that you provide your own costumes, and we use locations that we have free access to only. there may be occasions where we have to think outside the box, but if we're not being creative then we aren't doing it right.
Call sheets - In advance of filming I will send you a detailed shooting schedule with locations, timings and contact numbers. At this point
